Division of Solar Energy is one of the major research centers of Dalian National Laboratory for Clean Energy (DNL). DNL, led by Prof. Can Li, is the first national energy lab in China, co-located with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). DICP is a world-class institute which possesses strong competition abilities for the development of clean energy technologies. Prof. Li is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was elected to the President of the International Association of Catalysis Societies. He has made great contributions to solar energy research including photocatalysis and solar cell. He has published more than 400 peer-reviewed papers with over 4000 citations, granted 30 patents. He is on the editor boards of more than 15 academic journals. Research in the Centre is aiming to develop novel materials for clean and sustainable solar-energy conversion applications such as hydrogen production from water splitting, transportation fuels from CO2 photoreduction, water and air purifications, and cost-effective photovoltaic cells. Success in these areas will place us at the forefront of sustainable energy technologies driven by the power of the sun.
